Recording Drug and Alcohol Test Results
This guide is intended for Medical Provider users.
Only Medical Provider users have permission to record Drugs and Alcohol test results.
A Medical Provider can be an external medical practice or an internal company function. Once a Medical Provider user account has been created for an administrator, a registration email will automatically be sent to the individual with instructions on how to activate the user account and set their password.
- Log in to SkillGuard.
- From the Dashboard Select Record
Medical Result, complete all fields and click Search.
- Highlight the recordholder and click the Select button. The D&A Screenings tab in the left-hand panel is selected by default, but
the other tabs can be viewed, if required. Historic D&A Certificates will be shown in this summary view, which can be viewed by highlighting
the relevant one and clicking the View button.
- Click the Record D&A Result icon.
The Drugs and Alcohol Results form will be displayed.
The recordholder’s details and
name of the Medical
Provider will already be
populated and cannot be
changed.
The Examination Date will default to today’s
date, but this can be
changed if appropriate.
Enter all the remaining
relevant information into
the appropriate fields,
selecting the Test Type,
Test Reason, Drug Test
Result and Alcohol Test
Result from the
dropdown lists
presented. Be sure to
complete all the
mandatory fields marked
with a red asterisk (*).
Notes of a non-clinical
nature can also be
added, if required.
5. Click Save when the form
has been completed and
confirm the result when
prompted.
To view all the D&A Test Results recorded by you and your colleagues, click the View D&A
Certificates button on the home dashboard.
From this summary view, use the filter options to refine the list displayed, then highlight the
relevant record and click the View to view the certificate or the Export button to create and save
an Excel .csv file.
A Confirmed Positive D&A test outcome will result in the recordholder being suspended. An email
reporting this result will automatically be sent to the worker’s primary employer, secondary
employer(s) and sponsor(s).
This means that the individual will not have authority to work in SkillGuard until a new Negative D&A test result is recorded and the suspension can then be lifted manually.
